On a business trip to Reno in 1987, I spent my free time alternating between Donner Pass and Feather River Canyon. Even though it was 80 degrees in Reno, there was snow at Donner Summit.
In 1981, a friend and I took a cross-country train trip and one of the highlights was a day in Feather River Canyon. The weather was fantastic and it was almost impossible not to take great pictures.
On a 1987 trip, I covered the east end of Feather River canyon. Of course, it was now Union Pacific instead of Western Pacific, but the scenery was no less spectacular.
